was established in 1970 for lovers of all dog breeds.
held the first AKC-sanctioned dog show in Western Colorado in 1974.
hosts an annual All-Breed Dog Show.

If you would like to learn more about participating in the work of our club, please visit one of our monthly meetings.

At our meetings we conduct club business, prepare and organize our shows, socialize with other members, and learn about other breeds, nutrition, and training techniques.

Our meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the training annex building of the American Red Cross on the NE corner of 5th Street and Gunnison Ave.in Grand Junction.

GVKC Mission Statement

To further the advancement of all dogs, particularly purebred dogs; to promote the sport of dog shows and encourage sportsman-like competition at such events; to educate our members and the public about responsible ownership and breeding of dogs; to advocate for the protection and well-being of all dogs; and to adhere to the guidelines of the American Kennel Club in our activities.

Our Activities in Support of Our Mission Statement

GVKC hosts an annual AKC-licensed show each year.
GVKC sponsors educational seminars, open to the public, to advance responsible dog ownership, canine health, and information on quality dog breeding programs.
The club provides guidelines for evaluating dogs and dog breeders.
GVKC has monthly meetings with programs given by experts who provide information on the reduction of disease, genetic defects, injuries, and ailments which may affect our dogs.
